|Majestic 18th century Louis XIV armoire in solid walnut.|
This is one of the most incredible early 18th century period piece we've ever purchased. This noble piece was crafted in the region of Versailles during the late reign of Louis XIV. The "Sun King", after a life of excess and pleasure, was looking for spiritual guidance... the stars of Bethlehem, hand carved in high relief in the mid section of the amazing 3 panel doors, are a vibrant symbol of this late quest. The Fleur de Lys shows the piece was commissioned for a noble family with close ties to the court. The most beautiful figured walnut was selected, hand forged iron hardware and key. All original. An extremely rare find. We just have to show this off!
